Baptism

What is baptism?

Baptism is as an outward sign of faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. Christian baptism is an act of obedience to the command of Jesus, declaring the believer’s faith in, and identification with, their crucified, buried, and risen Savior. Baptism is a visible sermon of the gospel of Jesus Christ, identifying the Christian with his death, burial, and resurrection.

Matthew 28:19–20; Romans 6:1–11; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Colossians 2:12.

When should I get baptized?

After you have made a decision to commit your life to Jesus, one of your first steps should be baptism. We want to be clear and state that baptism does NOT get you into heaven. Likewise, not being baptized does not keep you from going to Heaven. It’s a symbolic act of obedience and a public profession of your faith in Christ.

What if I was baptized before trusting Jesus?

Many of us were baptized by immersion before we came to know Jesus and before we truly could understand what it meant.  If you feel like you were baptized before you had made a decision to follow Jesus, we want to encourage you to contact us and talk about being baptized for the first time AFTER you have made that decision to follow Jesus!
